TAMIYA 1/72 Republic P-47D Thunderbolt "Razorback". TAMIYAWB Republic P-47D Thunderbolt "Razorback" released in February 2004
[Product introduction]
TAMIYA 1/72 Republic P-47D Thunderbolt "Razorback". Thunderbolt, a heavyweight fighter aircraft representing the U.S. Army Air Corps. Equipped with a 2000-horsepower engine, exhaust turbine supercharger, and heavy armament, it was effective in long-distance escort missions and ground attacks. The early production model, in which the upper fuselage from the canopy to the tail was slightly narrowed, was called the "Razorback." The beer barrel style was created to house the exhaust turbine supercharger. The exhaust duct extending from the engine passes through the underbelly of the fuselage and is led to the turbine in the tail, where it compresses the air. This gave the engine enough power to last even at high altitudes.
