The Toyota GR 86 is an FR layout sports car that was simultaneously released worldwide in April 2021. The styling expresses a wide stance and low center of gravity, and uses aerodynamic items with motorsports participation in mind. We also strive to reduce weight by using aluminum for the roof, front fenders, and bonnet. The engine is a 2.4-liter horizontally opposed 4-cylinder DOHC engine that is lightweight, compact, and has a low center of gravity that produces 235 horsepower. The suspension has front struts and rear double wishbones. The direct and pleasant driving characteristic of FR has been further evolved.
[Model Information]
This is a 1/24 scale plastic model assembly kit. The stylish and dynamic form is reproduced as it is on the actual vehicle. The characteristic air outlet at the rear of the front fender is a separate part. The 2.4 liter horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engine is also made into parts including auxiliary equipment. The bonnet can be opened and closed, and can be held open using a stay similar to the actual vehicle. The front and rear suspensions have a three-dimensional feel while keeping the number of parts low. Inlet marks are available on the door mirrors and room mirror surfaces. The rear combination lamp case, backlight case, and muffler end are plated parts. Textured solid rubber tires are mounted on black-colored 10-spoke wheels. The aerodynamic form is realistically reproduced, including the voluminous rear fender, spoiler-shaped side sills, and ducktail at the rear end of the trunk lid. The bonnet can be opened and closed. In addition to the horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engine, auxiliary equipment such as the battery, fuse box, and radiator are also made into parts, giving a sense of density. The back of the chassis has plenty of three-dimensionality, including the front and rear suspension and exhaust pipe routing. The front and rear stabilizers are separate parts. The sporty interior features a horizontal dashboard, ABC pedal, manual transmission shift knob, and lever-type handbrake. The rear combination lamp is assembled by painting the clear parts separately. The two left and right muffler ends are plated parts. The hassle of masking when painting the body has been reduced by making the roof molding a separate part and molding the window frame onto the window parts side. By molding the window frame on the window part side and painting it separately with mask stickers, you can reduce the effort of masking when painting body parts. In addition to slide marks such as license plates, meter panels, and emblems, the set also includes mask stickers for coloring the windows and rear light covers, and inlet marks.
