As a result, the number of 15 cm secondary armaments was reduced to eight, but the number of anti-aircraft weapons was six 12.7 cm high-angle guns, six 25 mm triple machine guns, and eight twin machine guns. He participated in the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944 as an avant-garde unit, but was smashed by a direct hit on the stern. After that, he received additional renovation work of anti-aircraft armament, participated in Operation Ichi-Go in October 1944, and in the Battle of Leyte Gulf off Samar Island, he was active in shooting American ships with "Kongou". After returning to the mainland for repairs, "Haruna"
was hit by air raids in Wu, and the war ended with a wreck and landing.
