[Product Introduction]
TAMIYA 1/32 Aircraft Series No.28 North American F-51D Mustang (Korean War).
[A veteran horse returns to the front lines]
The P-51D Mustang is the main fighter of the US Army, famous as one of the most masterpiece reciprocating aircraft of World War II. After the war, it was renamed F-51D with the establishment of the United States Air Force in 1947, and continued to be used with repeated updates, such as adopting new propellers and replacing radio equipment. Mustang had already retired from the front lines due to the rise of jet aircraft at that time, but returned to the front lines when the Korean War broke out in 1950. Utilizing its long cruising power, excellent maneuverability, and operability that could withstand simple front-line airfields, it struggled against ground attacks and provided strong support for United Nations ground forces from the air. Total length 308mm, total width 354mm. The distinctive main wing, which uses a retracted fuselage and laminar flow wings, is faithfully modeled. The entire fuselage is engraved with delicate panel lines and rivets. Reproduces a Hamilton Standard propeller blade with a square tip. The radiator compartment is finished just like the actual machine, including the internal ducts and oil cooler. The moving blades and radiator flaps are made into parts, as are the 6 12.7mm machine guns and bandoliers inside the movable main wings. In addition to two types of drop tanks and 500 pound bombs, a total of six 5-inch rockets (HVAR) are available. The radiator access panel on the side of the fuselage is a slit type. Includes pilot figure in seated position and standing figure. A set of 3 types of markings for aircraft used in the Korean War. Not only the aerodynamically sophisticated and beautiful form, but also the features of the post-war Mustang, such as the square-tipped propeller and the new radio, have been faithfully reproduced. The thin-walled engine cowl can be attached and detached using a small magnet even after completion. The engine mount is an integral part of the fuselage and has sufficient strength. The liquid-cooled V-type 12-cylinder Packard Merlin V-1650 engine has been precisely modeled, including the intercooler, 2-stage 2-speed supercharger, and auxiliary equipment such as the carburetor. A wide range of ground attack equipment is included, including 5-inch aircraft high-velocity rockets (HVAR) and napalm bombs using drop tanks. The inside of the cockpit has plenty of density and is well made. Two types of operation panels are available to suit the specifications of the radio. The seatbelts are photo-etched parts that give a sense of scale. Also worth noting is the AN/ARC-3 transmitter/receiver set behind the seat. The pilot figure in a seated position is modeled wearing a P-1A helmet used during the Korean War. In addition to the 6 12.7mm machine guns inside the main wing, there are also parts such as bandoliers. The access panel can be opened or closed. Ailerons and flaps are movable. The aircraft has an expression, giving it an even more realistic feeling. Elevators and rudders are also movable using a combination of metal shafts and photo-etched parts. Units around the main landing gear and tail wheel are replaceable. An exhibition stand is also included, so you can enjoy the neat style of the model in flight even after it is completed. Photo-etched parts such as the seat belt and oil cooler have a sharp finish. We also have mask stickers for windshield painting.
