HASEGAWA 1/32 Kawasaki Ki61 Type 3 Fighter Hien I Type Hei. The Type 3 Hien fighter is the only liquid-cooled fighter among the Japanese fighters that served in the Pacific War. Efforts were made to reduce air resistance and weight, resulting in a well-balanced aircraft that maximized both speed and maneuverability, and was adopted by law in 1944. However, the weak point of this machine was poor production due to lack of basic industrial capabilities and malfunction of the Ha-40 liquid-cooled engine due to inexperience with maintenance. Still, it has achieved success in the Philippines, New Guinea, and mainland air defense battles. In particular, in air defense battles on the mainland, it maintained a high availability rate due to a stable supply of parts and the work of veteran maintenance personnel, and its high-altitude performance was better than other Japanese aircraft, so it fought hard against the B-29. In particular, the 244th Flight Squadron, led by Captain Teruhiko Kobayashi, the youngest squadron commander in the history of the Army, showed a fierce fighting spirit, and by the end of the war, had shot down over 160 B-29s, boasting one of the greatest military achievements of any unit. The kit reproduces the C type. Highlights include the density of the sculpture, which is suitable for 1/32 scale, and the reproduction of the cockpit, which is made up of many parts. Familiar large spar parts are used for the attachment parts of the main wing and fuselage, allowing for reliable positioning. The windshield comes in two types: a one-piece type for the closed state and a three-part type for the open state. One figure in a seated position is included. Two types of head parts are available: with and without an oxygen mask. The decals are the 244th Flight Squadron Squadron Leader Captain Teruhiko Kobayashi's aircraft ``295'' (Chofu Air Base: January 1945) and two others.
