[About Type 1 Land Attack Aircraft]
The Type 1 Land Attack Aircraft was designed as a successor to the Type 96 Land Attack Aircraft, and the first flight of the first prototype was carried out on October 23, 1939. Ta. The Navy's requirements at the time were severe: a maximum range of 4,185 km under reconnaissance overload conditions, and a maximum range of 3,704 km under attack overload conditions with a bomb or torpedo payload of 800 kg.The first step was to improve the main wing structure to increase cruising power. We adopted an integral tank, which is partially oil-tight and uses the structure as a tank, allowing a large amount of fuel to be carried within the main wing. The thick, cigar-shaped fuselage, which is also a feature, has a bomb bay installed inside the fuselage, which sufficiently reduces drag from an aerodynamic perspective.The unique and outstanding design makes it an aircraft with performance that exceeds military requirements. I did. However, the integral tank later became the weak point of the Type 1 land attack aircraft, and even the slightest hit to the main wing would cause it to catch fire, resulting in much damage in air combat. The total production number of each type was approximately 2,400 machines.

It is a type that has the bomb bay removed and can carry one Ohka-11 aircraft in the center, and has bulletproof steel plates installed in the cockpit, fuel tank, etc. Due to the increased total weight when loaded, flight performance deteriorated, and the aircraft was often shot down before Ohka took off, so it was unable to fulfill its role as Ohka's mother aircraft.
