TAMIYA 1/350 Japanese Heavy Cruiser Mogami. T1350 Mogami Released in December 2009
[Product Introduction]
TAMIYA 1/350 Japanese Heavy Cruiser Mogami.
[20.3cm twin guns that shocked the U.S. Navy]
The Mogami class cruiser of the Japanese Navy was planned in 1931 as a light cruiser with a standard displacement of 8,500 tons and equipped with five 15.5cm triple guns. Of the four ships built, the first one, Mogami, was completed in July 1935. In 1939, she changed her main gun from triple 15.5cm guns to twin 20.3cm guns, and entered the Pacific War as a heavy cruiser. Mogami was assigned to the 7th Squadron of the 2nd Fleet along with three ships of the same type, and supported the landing operations as an escort force for the Malayan landing force. The following year, in March 1942, at the Battle of Batavia, she and her sister ship Mikuma sank the American heavy cruiser Houston and the Australian light cruiser Perth. Later, in June 1942, when repairs were made to the damage sustained during the Battle of Midway, she was renovated into an aviation cruiser with enhanced enemy search capabilities. After undergoing major renovations, Mogami was transferred to the 2nd Fleet and participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944. In this battle, which was the last major naval battle between Japan and the United States, the Mogami was attacked by enemy carrier-based aircraft, was badly damaged and burned, and was killed by a torpedo attack by an allied ship. 1/350 scale, total length 573mm, total width 76mm. A heavy cruiser equipped with five 20.3cm twin guns. The most fearless ship has been modeled to its fullest. The upper part of the hull is divided into left and right parts, and the lower part is integrally molded to reproduce the sleek form. Large parts such as the hull and deck can be assembled securely by screwing them to the reinforced frame parts. The main turret, torpedo tube, high-angle gun, catapult, etc. can be rotated even after completion. The front and rear masts and aerial battle supports are made of ABS resin that is hard to break. The bridge windows and searchlight lenses are made of transparent parts. Anti-aircraft machine guns and flame extinguishers are all detailed. Set includes Type 95 water reconnaissance aircraft (2 aircraft) and Type 0 water reconnaissance aircraft (4 aircraft). The fuselage has a delicate mold and has plenty of presence. It also comes with a stand that allows you to display carrier-based aircraft in flight. An exhibition pedestal with a metal nameplate sticker is available. In addition to photo-etched parts, the anchor chain and propeller shaft are made of metal to enhance the sense of precision. The 20.3cm twin cannon, which was a feature of the heavy cruiser era, is also reproduced with a sharp mold. Even after the gun barrel is completed, you can choose between normal mode and anti-aircraft combat mode. Equipment around the bridge and front and rear masts are prepared with new parts. The superstructure faithfully reproduces the appearance of the heavy cruiser era. The deck and turret at the rear of the hull are completely modeled, which greatly changes the image from the Mogami of the aviation cruiser era. The hull can be assembled with a choice of full-hull or waterline specifications, expanding the enjoyment of large ship models. Cranes, catapults, propellers of carrier aircraft, etc. are reproduced with delicate photo-etched parts.
