[Product Introduction]
TAMIYA 1/700 Waterline Series "1/700 German Heavy Cruiser Prinz Eugen".
[About ``Prinz Eugen'']
The German Navy's Prinz Eugen was commissioned in August 1940 as the third Admiral Hipper-class heavy cruiser. A large ship with a standard displacement of over 14,000 tons and equipped with four powerful 20.3cm twin guns. In May 1941, she sortied into Operation Rhine in the Atlantic Ocean, sinking the British battlecruiser Hood along with the battleship Bismarck, and also caused heavy damage to the battleship Prince of Wales. In February 1942, together with the battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, they successfully completed the ``Channel Dash'' in broad daylight, crossing the Strait of Dover from the French port of Brest to Germany, just a stone's throw away from Britain. It became one of the few German ships that fought until the end of the war. After the war, in 1946, she became a target ship for the American atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll, and after the test ended, she capsized and ran aground in the shallow waters of Kwajalein Atoll, where she can still be seen today.

You can select and assemble the 1941 "Line Exercise Operation" and the 1942 "Channel Dash" with five 20mm quadruple machine guns added. The hull is divided into left and right parts, and the subtle lines on the sides are realistically reproduced.
